I've been using this monitor for two and a half months and my experiences with it have been interesting. Let's get to the specs first. It's one of the cheapest monitors you can buy, with a 1440p resolution, 27-inch diagonal, 144Hz refresh rate, adaptive sync, and 1ms response time. Most other panels of this quality cost at least $300, so getting it for $260 is a bargain. . The budget monitor stand is also fantastic. The ability to adjust both tilt and height is unheard of in this area. There were no cut corners. The picture quality is fantastic too. QHD on a 27" screen is a treat (I've used a TN 1080p 24" 60Hz monitor before). In addition, the quality of the controls is also fantastic. AOC's promise of a 3-year dead pixel warranty and a 1-year accidental damage warranty is extremely generous compared to the others. competitors. If you run into a problem, don't worry about your several hundred dollar investment. Well, here are some caveats and issues I encountered while using this monitor in the first month of use. For my PC, I use an AMD RX 5700 graphics card, which has always been prone to driver errors and issues. During that first month of use, I had instances where the monitor wouldn't recognize the GPU output and wouldn't switch inputs to the connected HDMI. I would have to completely reset the monitor to get it working again. However, this has been fixed with the latest AMD Adrenaline driver update. Also, I had trouble getting Adaptive Sync to work with my GPU. The most obvious issue is that when I enable a custom GPU fan profile using MSI Afterburner, the monitor goes blank for a few seconds at a time, and this happens about every half minute. I would have to disable my custom fan profile and tolerate higher GPU temperatures to use my monitor. However, the latest AMD GPU driver patch also fixed this issue. At the moment I have no problem with my computer recognizing my monitor and I don't have any weird issues with the display turning on and off. Aside from driver issues, the usual VA panel warnings also apply to this monitor. They have an excellent contrast ratio with better blacks than IPS or TN but suffer from slower GTG response times. This can cause black smearing when your game encounters dark environments. However, I didn't notice this smearing in my own use of YMMV. Also, the brightness is definitely lower - 250 nits. I would really estimate a minimum of 300 nits. I use this monitor in a dark room so 250 nits is not an issue, but if you use this monitor indoors with natural light, you may find this monitor difficult to use. Overall I'm very happy with this monitor, but my first month and a half of owning this monitor could have been smoother. Although it was my own hardware, not the monitor. I assume that someone with an Nvidia GPU will not encounter the same problems as me. If you're on a tight $300 budget, I'd highly recommend this monitor (if it ever becomes available). Otherwise I would try to stretch the budget to get a brighter IPS gaming monitor.
