I'm telling you these shoes are worth it. If you're on the fence, BUY THEM. I've had mine for a little less than a year and they've done everything to me. I originally bought these because I'm a field biologist and needed shoes for our water days. I've kayaked with them, canoed, toured Maine, swum, and toured Hawaii. For the price you really can't beat it. I recognize that they have limitations and rightly so. It was an excruciating climb 4 miles up the wet muddy jungle. The soft surface where your foot touches the sandal is not suitable for mud and steep slopes, and you will slip in the shoe no matter how tight it is. BUT, the show itself didn't slip when in contact with dirt, so it's up to you to decide how effective they are. Bottom line, if you want Chaco fakes that will cover 98% of your outdoor needs. That's all.
