When I was looking for a cheap office chair I knew I wouldn't find anything more comfortable than the Lay-Z-Boy, especially for a hundred bucks or so - so I have to do loosen up that chair a bit. The reason I chose it is because I saw several people on YouTube and Twitch with this chair and no one complained about it. . And it looked normal for a gaming chair. Now that I think about it, some of these people didn't really look comfortable or relaxed in their chairs. But everyone's comfort level is different. I had the chair less than a month and at first I regretted it. At first the chair didn't recline, allowing me to settle down comfortably. I think it's stuck or something, so I used a pry bar (actually my homeowner's choice) to 'loosen' it a bit. To be honest it didn't seem to move no matter how hard I pulled and pushed, so I modified it to give it more tilt. But! I think the tire levers worked because when I got in I really thought I was going to fall backwards and have to catch myself. But it turned out great. I lean back and it takes more pressure off my butt so the seat cushion actually feels better. I didn't make these changes until after I'd spent a week in this chair. I'm glad I did as I was about to order another, more versatile chair before I got these ideas to try. Also, the "headrest" (or padding) they put behind their head is uncomfortable. It annoyed me too. I thought I was overreacting and should understand how these racing style gaming chairs were built, but it put pressure on my neck and pushed my head forward. And the fact that he wasn't reclining made the problem worse. I couldn't sit in this chair for more than an hour and I hated it. Now that I can recline in my chair, the headrest feels great. This is how life should be. Another inconvenience was (and still is) that "hump" at the front of the seat. You should spread your legs for comfort or use a footstool to elevate your legs over this hump. Sometimes I use a box to put my feet on it, sometimes I use the base of a chair and put my feet on it. The disadvantage of splayed legs is that depending on how tall you are or how leaned you are, you may feel that one or both of the lower braces are digging into the back of your legs. Perhaps you can solve this problem by adding a pillow, which you'll want to make anyway if you plan on sitting in this chair (or almost any chair) for any length of time. I used to work in a call center as a customer service representative. and saw quite a few pillows, although most of us didn't have any. Again, this is entirely up to you and your body. You know what you like and how you feel. Right now, my chair is fairly new, so I don't have an issue with the seat cushion itself. But then again, $100 doesn't bring lay-z-boy comfort. As you can see the armrests are soft and I like them. It's actually one of the best things I love about this chair (now that I've learned how to recline it). If you don't have a chair with armrests and are starting to experience shoulder, neck or back pain, then at this price point, armrests alone COULD make this chair worth the money for you. If not, at least get a chair with armrests, because if you let yourself suffer for too long (yes, sitting in a chair) you can actually cause long-term damage. Another thing I like about armrests is that they fold down. I can easily move my chair under my desk and out of the way so I have enough room to walk around because I have a chair and table in my bedroom for quick access. And I also like to turn around because I can quickly get in and out of my chair without having to roll my chair back or lift myself from my desk. I just turn around, lift the armrest and go eat something. And if you have a wireless keyboard and want to kick back and use the keyboard on your lap (like I currently do with the wireless Logitech K350), simply lift up one or both armrests to give yourself more room. You can also do this with a wired keyboard if you have a USB extension cable. As long as the chair rolls smoothly, the height and tilt controls work well and rotation is nearly flawless. The only time I feel a little resistance is when I recline all the way, but as I said, I changed it to make it more reclined, so it's not the chair's fault. And it's barely noticeable. Some may like it better that way. It still rotates easily, but not as smoothly as when seated. As for assembly, it was pretty quick and easy. It took me about 45 minutes to assemble (without instructions). Tools (as you know) come with it. And that was the second most important reason to choose this chair - everything you need is in the box. In the end this chair turned out great. It is NOT one sided. All parts fit perfectly. Everything is working well. It's more convenient. I don't need another chair and am happy with what I have. Like I said, the ONLY downside right now is the big bulge in the front of the seat, but a kickstand (which is a good idea anyway) makes it better. For now it's comfortable enough that I don't need a seat cushion, but whether or not you get one depends on your body type and the level of comfort you prefer. I love my chair and my friend loves it, but I'm not sure I would recommend this chair to a friend because I don't know if my experience was typical. Based on the reviews, it seems like most other people like their chair better, so their adjustments either work well, or they might not be as lazy as me. about how long you have to be in it. Think about the price. read reviews. Compare. Then decide if it's worth the hundred dollars or not.
