I use it to make my cat less likely to find it interesting and start climbing my blinds. I tried different ways to hide the blind cords on the window wall. I've considered the style of the spikes but it still requires them to be fixed to the wall (not great for an apartment) and that would mean they would still be visible which my cat would p- probably remain curious about would do about her. And since I only have two sides for all three panels, this doesn't work for the middle panel. This prompted me to try it. They are amazing. Yes, they're a little tricky to open, but if you push, push, and pull in the right place, they open with no problem. Some concerns I've read about include that they don't work with long cables. I have 5 foot windows and if I start too high they go higher than I can reach and still have a dangling cord. So if I were to start lower I would pack up the hanging pieces and then decide to just tuck them a little higher behind the blinds. So they stand up and don't hang around anymore. This is not a problem for parents keeping them away from children, only for cats. If I want to make them bigger I could just use two of them. Another winder raises and lowers the cords that stay together. But the shade adjustment cords don't stay together and are the same length, so I just put one on at a time and did the same thing, tucking them in the back. Easy to fix. This was a good solution for another brand of foil, also easy to use but more difficult to make if like me you have to reach through furniture. Finally diaper. They are wound INSIDE the device. Read the instructions and if you hold the right side and twist the other side it will wrap inside. I didn't find it difficult to put them on. They made almost no effort.
