We have a couple of house cats who are mostly only kept warm by heating lamps and who are fine. Several times this year the mornings were well below zero and didn't seem warm enough. Now, on these -20 degree mornings, everyone is snuggling up on their mat with warm bellies and warm feet and still under a warm lamp. They are used to it like a fish to water, they like it very much. Normally the mat feels warm at temperatures above 20 degrees, at -20 degrees it is not so warm, but it still works. There is no temperature control but I'm not sure it would be better if there was. The cover is soft and fluffy, I haven't washed it yet as it appears pretty clean after a few weeks of use. It was a good buy!
