Review on Carter M6882 Mechanical Fuel Pump by Douglas Berry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works perfectly! Right for Ford 351ci Cleveland - wrong for 351ci Windsor - both had engines in the 1970s - read the review for more information.

Works great replacing a leaking OEM pump. Correct for Ford 351ci V-8 Cleveland engine - Incorrect for Ford 351ci V-8 Windsor engine. Words of wisdom: Be careful when using the Revain installer tool with 1970 Mustangs. These Mustangs had both Cleveland and Windsor engines - typically early 1970s production units had Windsor engines and later a mix of both, then Clevelands dominated Mustang production in the mid to late 1970s. The required mechanical fuel pumps are NOT interchangeable between the two engines. Cleveland fuel pumps have two vertically opposed mounting bolts/screws (like this Carter M6882), Windsor fuel pumps have horizontally opposed mountings. The threads of the rigid fuel line were correctly and cleanly finished, the notch on the rubber fuel line was the right size.
