Living close enough to work means commuting is not an option long enough to fully charge my car battery. After two battery changes (and yes, checking the alternator and charging system) I finally connected a voltmeter to the battery and saw the daily voltage slowly drop and eventually drop below 11 volts before I started the car. and falls well below 10.5V at startup. Keep up the good work and any lead-acid battery will soon lose capacity. I tried to charge the battery twice a week but sometimes I forgot and it was VERY inconvenient. So I bought an EcoWorthy 12V 10W solar panel. I attach it to my windshield with suction cups, park it so the car faces south-southwest, and my battery problems are gone. It puts about 3 watts into the car (sun through the windshield, mid Florida winter), which is enough to fully charge the battery but not overcharge it. (Outside, in the sun, the panel can deliver more than 7 watts to the battery when I need a faster charge. A typical charger puts out 20-30 watts, so a fully discharged battery cannot be charged in a reasonable time.) My only drawback to the device is that the suction cups are held poorly in the clips. In short: a great battery for a medium-sized car or truck with minimal consumption.
