At the time of writing this review I have these speakers and have been listening to them extensively over the past 2 weeks. The point is, I really like her. I bought these speakers because they are identical in size to my acoustic Q 3020s and because I saw a YouTube video from Low Audio of him breaking and opening his copy of this speaker. I was impressed with the build quality I saw and the visible quality of the components. I can attest that the build quality is fantastic at any price point and truly exceptional at this price point. And the components look good. Now for the sound. For context, I'm streaming my music from my tablet to my trusty Onkyo tx8511 receiver via Bluetooth, with the BT receiver connected to the magnetic input. I agree with others that these speakers need a break in period. Over time they get weaker and sound better. However, the company says the bass is only responsive at 90Hz, but it's much better. They're rear-ported, so their placement is important, and I usually position them about a foot from the wall. They are not bass monsters, they will never shake your insides. But with smooth jazz music, the stand-up base is clearly audible, and with some rock songs, it can really surprise you. The mids are pretty good, and the male (Johnny Cash-Hurt) and female (Adelle-Hello) voices are clear and pleasing. French horns, saxophones, acoustic guitar are wonderful. My only limitation is with high frequencies. On some songs the high frequencies are just a revelation (Chris Isaaks - Wicked Games, Fleetwood Mac - Rumors). The sound stage and visualization is a first class experience. But on other songs (mostly metal) the highs often feel unresolved, mixed and too bright, which is actually a bit annoying. In general, I never got tired of listening to them for long periods of time, but sometimes the peak frequencies were too high, so a small reduction in high frequencies isn't a bad default solution. While I've played them in a fairly large room and been able to get them loud enough for myself, I don't think they handle volume very well. Definitely not for parties, but I think they're great for a desk or medium-sized room. I have not compared other speakers in this price range, but for my money, my use and my ears I am very satisfied and recommend them. While I won't say they compare to $XXX dollar speakers, I think they far outweigh their weight. A very good budget option.
