I was confused at first because it says this is an average replacement but the bulb clearly fits and it turns out most table lamps and even floor lamps have a medium base. One wonders what a large outlet is good for. In any case, it was very easy to replace it with a new mechanism. Almost all are covered with a plastic cardboard fitting, so you have to push out the old mechanism to swap and remove it. Don't worry, thumbs work. It took five minutes to replace the switch. I couldn't be happier. As I have two of these I am now looking for another lamp to convert to a three way lamp.
