I bought this to help me build an aviary so my little dog can do his job and not run around when I don't have him every second can observe. Unfortunately, this snail makes a bigger hole than I need for the two dozen 1.25" x .5" x 24" wooden stakes I used for the perimeter. I ended up using a long screwdriver to punch the pilot holes and then drove the posts in about 5" deep. I used an auger for two thicker 48" posts on either side of the gate and set them about 18" deep. I would have had a really hard time without them, so it helped me get the job done. With the help of an electric drill, it kicked in like clockwork. However, I don't think my cordless drill will have enough power.
