Great single board computers

Well, it's a another Pi. It's faster, they've fixed pretty much all previous shortcomings of previous models, most notably the absolutely critical tire bottleneck on the front (which made older versions very impractical to say the least). Interface bandwidth now makes sense, resources have grown, and key features have been added. HDMI is good. I had problems because of a bad cable. I'm kind of an electronics wizard, I have a very reputable and well stocked workshop that takes up half the floor of my house and I only had a micro HDMI cable that ended up being shot through. Without the secondary video option (maybe you can get the composite out of the board somewhere, I don't know if you can, it's not one percent obvious) I had to wait for a cable order to get it working. It's a kind of scam. But basic readiness will avoid this. I've ordered one (4GB model) for projects etc and one (2GB) for my new Netcore Miniserver which works with Pihole DNS and some other very small features. But now that I have gigabit ethernet and a really useful serial port, I plan to use it more. I will be using an 18650 battery on the 4GB model, which may be interchangeable with the 7" screen. If I can find a way to use both at the same time, I will definitely do that.

Pros
  • 2-lane MIPI DSI/CSI ports for camera and display - 4-pin stereo audio and composite video port - Micro SD card slot for booting and saving the operating system
Cons
  • Annoys
