Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Vibram Ascent Insulated Women's Sneakers - Stylish, Purple Athletic Shoes for Women by Ricardo Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

May require a bit of training/adjustment; Go up a size as recommended by the manufacturer

For sizing reference, I also wear the KMD LS Cross Training in a size 38 and I bought the Trek Ascent in a size 39. Although they were uncomfortable right out of the box when I made a few simple adjustments, they were excellent. With a wool insole I can run in clear weather and my feet stay perfectly warm and dry. They have much better traction than the regular running shoes I used to wear and now I can walk snowy sidewalks with confidence (although I'm still wary of ice). A few extra tips for fitting: I had to use a pin or small bar to press on the inside of the little finger sockets to make room. The fingers feel stiff at first, also due to the thicker padding. The wool lining tends to bunch up at the top. This made wearing them painful at first, until I found a way to put them on that seems to align everything on my feet better: after inserting my toes into my ankles, I flex my toes and hold my foot in a stance position on socks. while I tie my shoelaces. It seems to have made a big difference, but it's possible her hack helped too.
