I like the hold function but it doesn't hold the temperature very well. Otherwise great feature. I love the temperature alarm setting for making jams, donuts and frying. We strongly recommend that you scan the instructions and save them to your computer as setting the temperature alarm is not intuitive. It is very easy to hold and the metal spike folds securely. Requires a manual push to turn it on. A discharged battery with an automatic shutdown will last a long time.
