Very strong and bright red. I had to buy an eyeglass repair kit to put the batteries in. My 18 month old granddaughter played with it for the first time yesterday. She played with it for a while, carried it around and figured out how to feed it coins and even bills, which required a bit more hand-eye coordination. Eventually it stood on it, so it's pretty durable. She needs help to unlock it, but she's pretty smart and will probably figure it out next time she plays with it.

I've waited a while to write this review to see how this bench holds up. My nephew still loves it, but it has a few serious flaws. The door often stays closed because of the locking system, so I have to use a butter knife to open it.
