Review on High-Quality 5V DC 25VA Bench Linear Power Supply for Audiophile and Desktop Use - Regulated 5 Volt 3A 4A - Compatible with Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ B B+ Plus - Micro USB Connector by Chris Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Minor Quality Issues 25W HiFi Linear DC PSU did not achieve a perfect rating

A 25W HiFi Linear DC PSU was purchased as an additional PSU for the Topping D50s DAC. The USB Type-A output on the power supply allowed me to use a short USB Type-A to Type-B cable to power the DAC. My first impression was that the power supply feels solid and massive for its size. The detachable IEC power cord allowed me to substitute a shorter cord for my application. A clear plus. The voltage displayed by the power supply matched my Fluke 115 multimeter to within tenths of a volt. However, adjusting the adjustment screw on the rear only increases or decreases the PSU value in 0.03 increments. My PSU gauge shows either 4.99 or 5.02 volts. Not ideal 5am. The rated output current of the power supply has not been tested. Overall build quality inside is pretty good. However, there were a few minor flaws. First, a capacitor was not fully installed before soldering it to the PCB. Second, the position of the tension trim knob didn't line up perfectly with the access hole on the back panel. To correct this, the trim pot was forced to tilt slightly to ensure alignment. The 25W HiFi DC linear power supply is a good choice to power the Topping D50s DAC. This analog supply would also make a good power supply for the Raspberry Pi 4 as advertised. Several of the shortcomings mentioned above prevented it from getting a perfect five.
