I installed this card in my mid-2010 12-core Mac Pro. The decor was so-so. At first I had trouble reading devices until I restarted my computer. It worked fine at first, but after several hours of file transfer testing, it randomly ejected all devices directly connected to it. The strange thing was that he didn't extract them all at once. There was a cascading effect of dismounting one after the other with about a minute between each. This happened three times during my testing and I found a trigger point. Running First Aid in Disk Utility crashed the card last time. Note. I installed this card in hopes that it would give me more space and faster transfer speeds than my current 1x PCI Lane USB 3.0 Gen 1 @ 5 GT/s Link card. Speed. This card features 2 PCI lanes, USB 3.1 Gen 2 with 8 GT/s connection speed per lane. I didn't notice any difference in transfer speeds because I didn't know that this device only uses the USB 3.0 protocol to transfer files. I would only see an increase in speed when using hard drives with faster read/write speeds. Also, the PCI 2.0 slots in my computer are a real bottleneck.
