Review on πŸ“· Fujifilm XF55-200mm F/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens by Justin Sherman

Excellent images and build quality

The 55-200 is a tough and well built lens that also takes great pictures. Used on X-Pro1, X-E2, X-T2. The focus is fast and I rarely find it while hunting. However, these three cameras also represent three different generations of camera processors, so "fast" refers to each body. I really wish it was a weatherproof lens, after all this lens length calls for outdoor use. To be honest, at this price point, I have a hard time figuring out how much more I would be willing to pay for the WR designation. I've found that I often get less sharp detail on 200mm handhelds, even with IS on. Although I use good holding and mounting methods, the 300mm equivalent length of the crop sensor is an issue. The inverse shutter speed rule (1/lens length) works better with APS-C than (1/lens length x 1.5). I have one of the camera's auto ISO modes set to use a minimum speed of 1/320, a base ISO of 200 and a maximum of ISO 3200 for use with this lens. Let's see if that helps! As you might imagine, on the X-Pro body I have to use the electronic viewfinder with this lens and when it's mounted on the X-E2 it's very heavy at the front. That doesn't make the lens unsuitable for every type of body though, in fact I used it a lot on the X-E2 and appreciated its performance. With any camera, but especially the small XE series, you'll need to hold both hands and even better, use an eye-level viewfinder for even more stability. The Fuji 55-200 is a fantastic lens that I highly recommend.
