I used this tool to flatten 4 cherry seats, flattening them and reducing them from 3" to 1.75". This bit works best at a depth of 1/16" but I've experimented with different depths up to a full 1/4"! The deeper you go the slower you go so it's best to stick to 1/16" but the bit never got too hot to work even at lower settings. After 4 spots were reduced the only problem was the cherry resin pooling on the blades leaving traces of torn wood fibers. This resin was easy to remove. I haven't noticed any noticeable dulling or chipping of the blades. I am impressed!
