I read several reviews of this product before purchasing and I was aware of the negative comments. When unpacking there was a very slight smell, but that quickly disappeared and maybe after 10 minutes I didn't smell it anymore. The inserts bother me a bit, mainly because they don't fit perfectly and the 3 small compartments they make for really too small stuff, so I ended up taking one off and just committing to it to hold my lipsticks etc. There are several manufacturing defects such as loose stitching in various places and velcro on the tassels. t completely hides the brush hairs. However, I was able to close the case without snagging the brushes and for the price I paid this product isn't that bad. It's not perfect and the sides aren't padded causing them to deform when picked up by the handle, but that's enough until I want another bag.
