Review on πŸš— Maxi-Cosi Romi Essential Black Convertible Car Seat by Krystal Boyd

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Terrible chemical smell and very cheap composition. You get what you pay for!

I definitely regret this purchase. We were looking for an extra travel car seat, particularly one that was flame retardant free, and this Maxi Cosi Romi car seat seemed to fit the bill. Without FR there are not so many possibilities! You definitely get what you pay for though - the seat's stitching is comfortable enough, with thick padding, but it's clearly a cheap seat when you're trying to install it, and the plastic frame flexes easily by hand, which turns me off its safety in doubt (although I know all car seats in the US have to meet strict safety standards). I would be fine with all of that for the price except this seat smells TERRIBLE. It comes unfolded, completely loose in a mailer box with no other packaging, and as soon as I opened it, the whole room was filled with a horrible chemical smell. I aired it out in the hot sun for two days, but the smell didn't go away at all. I thought about returning it but thought maybe washing the cover would help a little. Well I can confirm that it is not. Now it just smells like a horrible chemical smell + baby detergent. We have headaches next to him and I can hardly imagine what he would do to my child if he sat on it in the car. To be honest it doesn't seem safe to inhale the fumes coming from this thing. I recommend 0/10.
