My 17 year old poodle's eyes can no longer contract in bright light which causes him to constantly flinch when exposed to bright outside light as he moves from shade to light. I took him to a veterinary ophthalmologist (sp?) for a check up and it was confirmed that his pupils could no longer contract to reduce the amount of light entering the eye. I asked what could be done to help him and she said to try Doggles. Some dogs don't tolerate them, others do. They are like sunglasses for dogs and can help in bright light. I've only tried them once so far. He tried to wipe them off, but I put a leash on him so he wouldn't rub his head on the ground. He tolerated the light better when they were on it. I think they are worth trying. I mean I definitely have nothing to lose and if they help an old dog go outside then they are worth it!
