Reliable device but not reporting connection status

Reliable device. Works well. Works with every SFP I've tried. Allows use of autonegotiation or forced speed and duplex. Unfortunately, this converter seems to have been implemented as a two-port switch and does not report the connection status correctly. In other words, you can plug a cable into RJ45 and your device will see that the connection is working even if the fiber optic link is down (or completely down). This makes it useless for those who want to monitor the status of an interface using HSRP/VRRP, or want BGP to fail over immediately after the link goes down instead of waiting for the BGP timers to expire. As an alternative, consider TRENDnet TFC. -1000MGA or TFC-1000MGB instead. Both devices correctly transfer the link status from copper to fiber and vice versa. If the fiber is down, the copper interface will be disabled. If the copper has failed, the fiber interface will be disabled.

Cons
