📡 CM19A R.F. PC Transceiver for X10 Devices Review

The CM19A RF transceiver (and the TM751 ordered at the same time) arrived quickly and works great. Two notes on these two devices: In some old reviews, people have complained about the loud clicking noise the TM751 makes when activated. Well yes, it's loud. But the TM751 works as a device module with a power rating of 500 watts and therefore needs a fairly powerful relay. If you don't like the click, just stay away from the Code 1 device. Here's how I got it to work if it helps anyone. It does not come with any software or drivers. I have Windows 7. Go to the X10 website and download the Firecracker X10 software. Do not use the drivers that come with Firecracker, they may damage your computer. Plug in the CM19A and let Windows Update find the driver automatically. When it's done, launch Firecracker and it works great.

Although I have Samsung SmartThings (highly recommended), I still have a couple of X10 switches that I don't use that often that I want to replace with ZWave. This device (plus the X10 receiver I already had, about $19) and the help of YouTube allows me to control these switches with Google Home, Alexa, or SmartThings. This receiver is connected to a Win 10 Virtual PC running on my MacBook Pro.

When my X10 controller stopped working properly I wanted to replace it with something cheaper. I bought this CM19A for $20 and it worked very well. The only problem is that it cannot receive X10 signals like from a Powerflash device. I also added some ferrite ring filters, eBoot 20 Pieces Clip-on Ferrite Ring Core RFI. Reduce noise and they seem to have helped but I have no proof. I also added X10 XPPF Plug In Noise Filter.

This device allows me to control X10 devices from my home automation system. I use it with the X10 wireless transceiver module and it works fine. It is connected to my Raspberry Pi and I use Mochad software to interact with it. I also use Arch Linux as the operating system. Works great and I will be integrating this into my SmartThings Hub in the near future. If you're looking for a way to programmatically control your X10 devices, get this and the X10 Wireless Transceiver Module.

Works. This allows you to use a modern computer to manage older X10 devices. The range isn't the greatest, so you'll need to plug your receiver into an outlet within a room or two of this unit. The software it was developed for is no longer supported and you can't use already registered software from an older Windows installation, but you can still use the full functionality - you just get an annoying screen when you try it to open. Fixing this would require a hack, which is not recommended for

In general I am satisfied with the purchase. The house was set up with X10 controllable lighting and wanted to link our Echo to control it with voice commands. I have a FireCracker CM17A lying around, but it's a serial device. Most computers no longer have these ports. Tried USB to serial adapter but it didn't work. So got this one. Worked like a charm out of the box. Alexa can now control our X10 modules! The range was a small issue. just moved the RF receiver module to a closer outlet.

Not a very good selection. You need to change it and add an antenna. There are no Windows drivers that would allow X10 Security to work, but it works fine with powerline modules as long as the powerline repeater is nearby. I used the TM751 to echo powerline commands. It certainly works on Linux using the MOCHAD driver.
