**UPDATE emailed Waring customer support with photos and they responded the same day. Apologize and say that was not usually the case with this model. They offered to replace or refund the money. I have decided on a replacement. They said if it happens again they will refund the money. Love the toaster, I hope mine just had a bad one. Increased the rating from 1 to 4 stars. The original Cuisanart toaster with the exact same design has been replaced by this commercial grade version. The predecessor lasted 22 years. This lasted 100 days of once-daily use before the pull-down handle broke. It is held in place by a single metal tab and attached to a molded handle in a 1/32" side panel slot. Inevitable point of failure. I contacted Waring to see if they have a solution. Otherwise the toaster is great. Perfect toast, simple operation, wide slots, easy to clean. As others have said it's 950 watts so you need a good 15 amp switch. I've never had a problem getting it to work.
