I like that the light changes color. I had to hide the plumbing in the new bedroom so the railings were altered to look like they were made for tin cans. These lights will help enhance this effect. I am attaching a photo of how to install the spring clip. On the back of the "Mounting Instructions" there are a number of small pictures showing how to mount the clip. My electrician didn't see them and couldn't figure out how to install the clip for fear it would break the light. Anyway, take a look at my pictures and I hope it helps. You take the spring clip and insert the side without the loop first. Make sure the other side has the round loop inside and push the clip until the other hole fits into the plastic bracket attached to the lantern. That way it has enough tension to keep the light going. Two was easy, and two hurt my fingers squeezing the spring so hard I could even use it with the guard on. Maybe it would be easier if I had tweezers or pliers. I had to read reviews under the same brand lamp but for 1 pack to understand how to do it.
