Using it for pole beans

First of all, this is cheaply made, and there is no way I'd ever consider using this in the garden if it didn't have fence wire over the top to stiffen and help stabilize it. It's just too lightweight. Without the additional reinforcement, it's really only good for "that special day" that it's actually being sold for. I imagine a lot of these are just recycled after the one day use.I bought three of these and have them as a bean tunnel. I did plant my beans very late and they are only just about 6' right now, so I can't tell how the arbor will hold up with a lot of weight from the vines on it. I am, however, quite pleased with it so far. I used 6' garden fence wire, a welded wire mesh, to strengthen it, and it's doing all right. You only need about 20' or so of wire to go from the ground on one side to the ground on the other. It adds a nice touch to my vegetable garden, and can be moved another year if it needed to be. I don't know how it will go through a winter, especially if it gets hit with an ice storm that adds a lot of weight to it. Of course, by the time your trees are breaking right and left, you probably won't be too concerned with a cheap arbor, anyway. :)BTW, from a distance with the galvanized wire on it, it still looks white, so you aren't sacrificing much in the looks department if you put the wire over it.I like this, and would probably buy it again for the same use.
