1- Yes you can get blackout curtains but Revain will ship them to you within 3 or 4 days. Mine arrived in 2 days. I didn't even have to leave the house! 2- IMO the ones I've seen at Walmart/Target weren't that thick. They had a black lining - but that's about it. 3 - Because they weren't that fat (to me) they didn't feel like they were doing anything special. ---- These curtains were worth the money spent. to buy. They are beautiful, heavy and made from excellent material - very durable. When folded, 1 panel felt like the weight of 2 or 3 pairs of jeans. 2018 was the hottest summer in Southern California that I can remember. I wanted these curtains to keep out the heat in my room which is lit by the afternoon sun. I didn't care about the dark. I was almost ready to figure out a way to set my auto tint to the windowsill. These curtains not only protected against sun and heat, but also ensured a more than bearable temperature in the room. If I buy another set I will go back and buy these no questions asked. ** Note. - If you want your room to be dark, move the curtains to where the top (at the counter) is flattened. Fasten the curtains to the walls with buttons. Bend the bottom of the curtain so it sits on the windowsill. This should reduce the amount of light (and therefore heat) entering the room.
