Review on 🌬️ Noctua NH-D9DX i4 3U, Premium CPU Cooler for Intel Xeon LGA20xx (92mm, Brown) - Ideal for Improved SEO by Jason Vigil

It has great cooling properties and is VERY quiet, but it's not perfect.

As the name suggests, this is a great and quiet cooler, but it has a BIG flaw. On a Xeon 2011 socket board, the fan itself invades the exclusion zone. Not only is the fan itself too wide, the clips that hold the fan and heatsink are even wider. On my Supermicro X10DRH-iT motherboard with full banks, the solution was to completely remove the clips and leave the fan on top of the memory. Since only the anti-vibration rubber corners used by Noctua make contact with the memory, there shouldn't be any problems. The fan rises about 3/8" so some cooling is now lost because the top of the fan is higher than the heatsink, but CPU2 is now running at about the same temperature as CPU1, which normally gets its exhaust from CPU1. typical of a dual processor motherboard, front/back (instead of left/right). , I think this is the best solution for a 4U server case that needs to stay silent. I would give this CPU cooling solution 5 stars if it really is in the Xeon exclusion zone. one star because while it offers excellent protection from damage, you almost need a hammer, chisel, and blowtorch to pry the cooler out of its packaging.
