It has great cooling properties and is VERY quiet, but it's not perfect.

As the name suggests, this is a great and quiet cooler, but it has a BIG flaw. On a Xeon 2011 socket board, the fan itself invades the exclusion zone. Not only is the fan itself too wide, the clips that hold the fan and heatsink are even wider. On my Supermicro X10DRH-iT motherboard with full banks, the solution was to completely remove the clips and leave the fan on top of the memory. Since only the anti-vibration rubber corners used by Noctua make contact with the memory, there shouldn't beโ€ฆ

LGA-1366 History "Holes "

The LGA-1366 socket actually comes in two versions. One has an actual CPU cooler mount. The other only has four holes in the motherboard. If the socket has a CPU cooler mount, the Noctua NH-D9DX i4 3U will work right out of the box. If there are only four holes, the Noctua NM-i3 mounting kit is required. This also applies to any other compatible socket with only four CPU cooler holes. You can get the mount for FREE from Noctua Support by presenting proof of purchase of this cooler. At the timeโ€ฆ

Noctua always delivers! My Dell T5610 is happy and cool.

This is my second set of Noctua coolers. Outstanding quality and performance. I installed them on a Dell Precision T5610 and the temperature is 15 degrees cooler than stock coolers. It exceeded my expectations. With standard coolers, CPU2 was always 5-10 degrees hotter than CPU1. This is due to the motherboard design and airflow. Although processor 2 gets hotter than processor 1, this is perfectly normal, I find a temperature difference of 10 degrees (sometimes even more) too big for my liking.
