Wouldn't recommend it. Softwood doesn't seem to have any quality control.
As mentioned the wood is soft pine which is not strong and also moves easily when trying to build a structure. There is also no quality control which is why the balls don't perform as expected. I don't give negative reviews but this is not a product I would recommend. I prefer the plastic style marble walkway where the pieces fit together and prevent them from moving or falling off during assembly. We liked the idea of using wood instead of plastic, but unfortunately the inferior materials combined with the lack of quality control make this an avoidable toy.
