Very hard wood

Bought for making wooden medallions, the wood is very hard. Tried to drill pilot holes and the drill wouldn't go into the solid wood and split every time. If you look at it, it's oak, hardwood anyway, then the shape is semi-circular, the nail can't throw it. The only way to attach them is with strong glue. They are well made and smooth for a half circle.
