Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens, black by Bali Benkgonk ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's not all bad, an average quality purchase.

He is fifty dollars in Africa and fifty dollars, this is a kind of standard. Canon currently has three. I already wrote about "plasticity-fantastic" 1.8, 1.2 is not and most likely will not be, so for now I use 1.4 USM. Of the pluses - if it hits, then a beautiful picture with pleasant colors and a recognizable "fifty" pattern. Aperture 1.4 helps out in situations where there is very little light, and the flash is impossible, or you just need to blur the back into the trash. Of the minuses - constructive. With any impact (even not strong), the helicode bends, which leads to partial or complete inoperability of focusing. It is treated only by disassembly or a service center. On open (1.4 - 1.8) noticeably soft. Focusing is subjectively slower and worse than other USM fixes.

Pros
  • A classic USM-focused poltos, not a toy like 1.8 and not expensive like 1.2
Cons
  • Very fragile design, fully open soft, slow focusing
