why a gap? - Measuring and writing tools
I have to lay out many aircraft parts and material samples with strain gauges, all measurements must be within 0.003 inch of engineering specifications. Most coupons are made of composite material, usually 1/8 inch or smaller. This item is about 1/3 inch clearance from the bottom of the tool to the side blades. It's useless for my purposes, I don't understand why they have such a big gap they shouldn't have. only suitable for 2x4.
