I loved the hair straight out of the box. The length was as described and the texture is a relaxed or stretched African American texture. However, it didn't take long for me to notice the downsides. First, although the hair looks thick, it is widely spaced on the head. Hair fell out a bit. Second, the hair was really difficult to water. I tried to wash my hair but after 5-6 minutes my hair got wet. (This made me think it wasn't 100% human hair on a 100% mannequin head. It could be a human hair mix.) Then I noticed that a quarter-sized amount of shampoo wasn't completely washed out of the hair. I tried flushing for another 8 or 9 minutes. There were small foams that are not washed off. When I finally blow dried my hair, I noticed several areas on my crown and scalp with white dots at the roots of my hair. I'm pretty sure it was lice nits. After researching I found out that this can happen if the hair is not treated properly. So I decided to return the mannequin. The return process was simple and straightforward. I also had the option of curling the strand by setting the curlers at 400 degrees. The hair curled well, but then the curls were combed. Please check each mannequin you receive. I'm not saying I won't buy it, but I'll keep the box just in case.
