Dying within a year. For the first time in my life I don't use Seagate or Toshiba and I regret it with every cell in my body. Used it to back up ALL my photos ever taken digitally or scanned from old family photos from the late 90's. PASSED. Spend extensive research and hours of conversation with WD and other computer professionals; into the problem, and for no less than $1,500 I can recover my data. Seriously, I've connected to my computer less than a dozen times and I think it's logging 200 hours of reads and writes. There was just enough time to install everything and remove the original disks. This ransomware bug that locks your computer data until you pay the hacker to get it back reminded me of my sweet grandparents and other lost relatives who are now hostage in this little black box that sits in a drawer being held. wait for release. I thought I'd finally check it out, now the anger and frustration of losing every photo I've ever taken is there, but I can't put it down; warned. I'm just clinging to it like a time capsule so that someday, when it's easier and cheaper, I can get my family back.
