I bought this in lieu of an air conditioner due to strict rental regulations. I heard about it on The Wirecutter and was intrigued by how much air it reportedly moves.Although I bought a used unit, I can confirm it moves a lot of air. I have a box fan feeding cool air from the window of my studio apartment, but I could never get air to circulate even by adding more box fans or smaller Whirlpool fans around the place.This tower fan by Seville fixes that issue, finally. By positioning it at an angle to the window air feed, I can have it blow cool air into one corner, and due to how well it pushes air, it has enough force to ricochet off the corner and start circulating around the room. I don't have a thermometer but temperatures are in fact lowered from a level of "uncomfortable" to a level of "normal". At night, I simply rotate the fan so it's pointed at me in bed, and it's like I have my own personal A/C. I'm totally happy.As I mentioned before, I bought a used unit, and I think it's worth noting that mine arrived with a couple problems. First, the rotation feature just doesn't work for me. Maybe I set it up wrong but I'm pretty sure I didn't. Also, the unit sometimes turns on with different settings than when I left it, such as the sleep timer or the strange ramping speed feature. It's a little forgetful, maybe this is a bug with this unit or it could be a problem with them in general. But so far, both of these issues are so minor compared to the heat I'm escaping that they really don't bother me.
