Review on Enhance Motorcycle Safety: Dot Approved Chrome 7inch LED Headlight with 4.5inch Matching Chrome Passing Lamps + Adapter Ring and Wire Adapter by Gordo Prince

Bright and good light drawing

I like doing parallel reviews. I was working on my bike so I decided to switch to LEDs now. In my photos, this light (purchased from Revain) is on the left side of the PSU and the beam pattern is up (and upside down). Another light source is a competitor of a motorcycle supplier. I'm usually skeptical about numbers and sizes because Revain has overstated them too many times. Packing 2400 lumens into the low beam seemed like one of those cases, and it actually might be. However, the photos clearly show that this headlight is much brighter and consumes more power. The competitor's headlight claims only 1600 lumens. As far as I understand, this is out of the realm of plausibility. The high beam is much more competitive between the two headlights (3600lm combined for this one versus 3200lm combined) and I actually prefer the competitor because it's aimed at a slightly higher angle to better illuminate the road. This light just seems to throw more light on the same spot. However, since I use low beam most of the time, this light is a winner. The lower difference in high beam is also confirmed empirically by how hard it hits my power supply, reducing it to 9.7v vs. 9.9v. The included bracket seems much better than the stock HD. The steel is thick, the chrome seems thin, but it will remain hidden all along. The bracket uses three coil springs under compression, one around each adjustment screw, versus an HD spring under compression. Although two harness adapters were included, I didn't need them. Haven't played around with low beams yet but they seem solid. Competitors' lamps, while significantly more expensive, did not include low-beam bulbs. The flashlight itself has a molded connector, while the competitor has traditional pin connectors. It appears to be much more durable and less likely to corrode in the long run. The only thing I like more about the other is that it has a nicer heatsink pattern and is a few ounces lighter. I didn't particularly like the style of this lamp (not to mention that most other drivers use it) follows function. I much prefer this radiation pattern as most of the light is in a dense cluster giving wide coverage down and to the sides. I also like the sharp vertical cut of both lights. The slight leakage of light between them is mostly (at least 75%) from the competition's light. I see no reason to pay extra for a decorative halo when the low beams are on all the time. My power supply has 2 independent outputs, the bot is set to 12VDC (within 0.1V), each delivering up to 1A. In the pictures I've flipped this light so both vertical edges are together. The beam pattern is very important to me and I hate that manufacturers don't show it. Perhaps this explains why this is such a popular style of lighting. Time will tell if it lasts and if not I'll come back here and complain. I hope you get something out of it.
