works as it should, but old technologies and programs can be improved! The instructions are poorly written and the UI was awkward when attempting to customize settings and it would be much better if the instructions were more detailed as to what each setting does. for example, when setting the amp-hour of a battery bank, one should say, for example, the higher you set the Ah bank setting, the more amps it will deliver to the battery (if it really does). My guess is that most batteries can be charged at 10% of their Ah rating. So if a set of 6v trojans in series is 235Ah, a 40 amp controller can only pass 23.5 amps (I may have 500w solar batteries and perfect sun and am wondering why I don't have more than 400 watts and see only 317.25 watts (23.5 amps x 13.5 volts = 317.25), that's all the controller will allow, although the rest of the system can put out over 450 watts, which any setting will do We know the controller is doing its job properly and isn't broken and it's our battery that needs an update. Also it might let someone know the importance of setting the correct amp-hour in the settings. There was many customers who had no idea how to calculate the amp hours of a bank of 6 trojans 6 volts each battery is marked 235 amp hours so they multiply that by 4 to get 940 ah when actually it's 470 ah because ku they are in series parallel 12 volts. So they charge their new batteries. There is ju. So many things that could be included to make the customer's project work properly and not blame the product. When my customers' batteries run out or they don't see the performance they expect, they automatically think the product isn't working properly. Top rated controllers like the Victron have great guides, tech support, and websites/videos that show the buyer how and why each setting should be the way it is. Also, many of us use an AGM battery as a cheap battery that doesn't outgas much but your settings just say sla-gel filled. settings are correct. Also give some suggestions like "charge slower and increase battery life, set to 20% less amp hours or charge faster and run loads during the day, set 20% higher but watch out for electrolyte evaporation etc... these little devices do a lot of things , so in the long run we would get a much better result if we gave more information on what they are doing based on each setting. Why is programming so limited without an mt50? I can't even set the battery bank size on the chassis display !Some customers don't want the mt50 and can't download the software onto their computer because it's so old that it won't work properly on new computers.Overall , these devices do their job pretty well, but this is a manufacturer who only does what is necessary to make an average product when it can be extraordinary!
