This is an 18 inch extension. Divide this tourniquet in two by making 3 inch staggered cuts. The box on my truck was bad, I cut the wires at the base of the old converter. I used these wires as leads to attach the female half of the 5 pin spade connector by soldering, gluing and shrinking the connections. The male half of the extension connects to the new converter box on the vehicle side. On the trailer side I attached a 4-pin flat socket (sold separately). Now if my new converter fails I can hook up a spare as I bought more connectors and converters to make a spare converter harness. The converter wiring harness is about five feet long and cuts it in a staggered pattern. I was able to use a plastic wire harness to cover the wires and connectors giving the wire harness a clean look. I also attached a flat clip for a bag of chips to the converter's duct tape so I can attach it to the bumper.
