This is my second VivoBook. My first one was ruined because my cat spilled coffee on it and there were no guarantees at the time. I substituted this as a last resort - how to write a thesis, ran to Walmart and bought a cheap HP to do said paperwork. HP was terrible. I had to send it in for repair twice during the two year warranty because the top of the laptop was separating from the bottom, and just after the warranty expired the same thing happened a third time. I decided to return to ASUS as it was my favorite laptop. The first one I ordered was a little cheaper than this one and had one of those weird number keys on the trackpad and it was a disaster so I sent it back. I checked my order history and found it was the Vivobook I originally had and downgraded it to this and another for about $80 more. I've read serious reviews and literally the only negative thing I've seen someone has said (and a lot of people have said) don't buy this because it has Windows S so it's useless. What? Windows S can be turned off by a 7 year old. That's no reason to hate this or any other laptop. You won't find many PCs without S mode as a factory setting. If you don't know what that is, it was an update for Windows 10 that includes new advanced security features from Microsoft. Yes, if you leave it on you won't be able to add Chrome or other non-Microsoft apps, but again it takes a few clicks to disable it. If you disable it, it will be disabled permanently. If you want to return it, you have to pay Microsoft to return it. You won't want to return it because you obviously want to use Chrome. Just turn it off and forget it was ever there! At least on the laptop itself. This is my first backlit keyboard and it's pretty cool. I never knew I would miss this feature. It's a full-size keyboard, as well as a number pad, which is very important to me but doesn't get in the way. Though I'll never check any of those trackpad number pads again because they just pop up randomly and are actually persistently toggled on or off on purpose. I found this trackpad to be too sensitive at first, so I went into the settings and disabled two-finger scrolling, and that fixes the issue for me. You might like this feature, for me it just pulls the screen size to any page when I don't want it. The screen quality could have been a bit better, as could the sound, but they are exactly what I expected. be in this price range. Unfortunately, a budget laptop is all I could afford right now. I really have no complaints about this laptop and am very picky about the feel of the keyboard. It might be worth noting that I'm not a gamer or anything and I don't stream much on my laptop because I have a smart TV for that. For a typical work or school laptop, that's a lot. I expect it to serve me well until I can afford an upgrade.
