Installation is very easy. It would be easier if I didn't try to plug the 6" square hole! I had to use a ceiling medallion and a standard 10" would have been much easier, but the light is too close to the edge of the room and it wouldn't have been possible. hung so trying to mount the lantern to the bracket created a new problem. Did! The light looks amazing, can't believe it took so long to swap it out! My suggestion is if you are replacing a lantern with a larger base, first remove that lantern to see if that base will cover your hole. The light can withstand up to a 100w incandescent bulb so my choice of bulb is doable although mine is dim.
