This shawl/poncho is very nice. It's not heavy, so don't anticipate that it will keep you warm outside in the winter cold. If you live in a climate that is warm year round it would prob be suitable for outdoor use without an additional coat. The material is smooth, slightly silky, but definitely not "clingy"! I'm a plus size and I do not like clingy fabrics that cling to my body & show unsightly bulges, so this shawl was perfect; it hung nicely and hid my excess weight exactly as I'd hoped! I'd highly recommend this item! In fact, I like it so much that I'm going to order a couple more in different colors! And I LOVE the buttons down one side, it adds an extra bit of class & style, plus the buttons can be unbuttoned so it can be worn more like a jacket if desired.
