However this appeared to be a well made heavy duty unit. I used it on a 4 cylinder head to compress springs and I literally bent the bolts on the unit to compress 2-3 stubborn springs. Now you could say they were rusty or something, but they aren't. The device kept slipping and causing some scratches on my aluminum head (not thrilled). This happened because there are 2 teeth that can be tightened or loosened to keep the spring from slipping. They slipped because where there is one screw, there should be two. A screw hole is drilled too far, which may cause the pins to slip or stretch. Poor quality screws, I doubt 5th grade is pretty standard. I had to move from 4/5 to 8th grade. When I mentioned this to Amazon, they compensated me for the replacement unit and my time. I think I only managed to get $10 back which didn't even cover the hardware. I didn't feel comfortable going back because I used it for all the work and fabricated/upgraded it to work better. Summary: Better built than most and if your springs aren't stuck to the pushrods from either rust (mine wasn't rusty) or oil burn, this works fine. Otherwise spend more money and get a better one. For a one-time job, the price is hard to justify, but time is money and a machine shop costs a lot more. I figured Amazon should refund me at least $25-$30, no questions asked. Hope this helps some people.
