I use this system because the water in my house is very hard and the fish need chemical treatment. It also leaves hard-to-remove white marks on the black edges of my tank (unsightly). Once I switched to this system, no more problems! My fish are comfortable in untreated water. This product lasted a year and a half before I had to replace it. Worth the price.
