They are actually closer to the size of a finished 5 inch can. You would expect it to fit in a 6 inch setup, you might find them smaller than some of your other bulbs. In any case, there's a lot to like about them - they give off a bright beam of tightly focused light (comparable to PAR lights) and fit into any room within about 2 inches of spacing. In my case, the duct was above the ceiling and I didn't have room for a conventional can. I've used mine for wall tiling and the results have been good. they dim quietly and well when they work but we are two weeks old and i noticed that one of the bulbs goes out completely and when dimmed below 90% it starts to flicker, it wasn't the bulb itself it was the driver this is particularly annoying as the unit is one piece and there was no other way to fix it than to rewire the light with another box of 6 packs. I'm still happy with the purchase but will of course update the review if there's more.
