Since it's not made of double layers or any special material, I don't think the fabric itself dissipates heat as much as some would hope. Does it cut off the heat? Yes. Does it work as insulation? NO. Regarding the audio, I mentioned that we live across from a toll road. This claims to reject a lot of noise, but I think it's very similar to the heat situation, where it muffles the sound a bit just because you're leaning it against a window. I walked into my parents' room and through the open window I could still hear cars speeding by. If I closed the window the noise would surely go away. Since we have lived in our house for over twenty years, the noise of the cars is almost like white noise for my parents. They're so used to the blinds no longer mattering. I didn't buy this to block noise, but it helps a little. I bought it to block the light and *help* with the heat. I didn't buy it for the soundproofing but I got some of it. Can I say that this product has met my expectations? Yes. My parents don't have to worry that their room is a sauna if they don't turn on the air conditioner, and if they do, it works more efficiently because there are curtains.
