So it might have trouble sticking to some smooth surfaces or changing position, but it's great for temporary marking on just about anything. I chose 1 inch to make room for fairly large writing (small print), but for some applications, like an analog mixer, 3/4 inch or even 1/2 inch will probably work better depending on the space you need . work with.
