As another user noted in their review, this shelf is not ideal for sneakers, trainers or boots. I should have read the dimensions more carefully beforehand but on arrival each slot was much smaller than I expected. While the front inch or so of each slot has some thickness, it's not the same cardboard material all over. However, I think it's perfect for lighter shoes - heels, sandals, flip flops. etc. and still found it incredibly helpful. All I had to do was rearrange between the three hanging shelves and move the heavier shoes to the other shelves. Overall: I would only recommend this product for lighter and smaller shoes! I would not recommend this for men's shoes as I wear a size 8-8.5 and have found it takes effort to put the shoes on.
