My first job with this toner was to locate an open outlet that was not receiving power. With a Fluke toner I found the problem in 5 minutes and saved my electrician bill. The sound works even when you're not over the outlet, and that's why, even though the outlet was hidden behind some things on the shelf, I still heard a faint tone starting to ring. I opened the socket, found that it was indeed the GFI that was working, and fixed the issue in 5 seconds. Then I picked up the unmarked ethernet cabling. The probe unit comes with an Ethernet adapter, making this job easier. I plugged the toner into an outlet in my office, then went behind the entertainment center to find out which ethernet port it was plugged into. The Pro3000 worked flawlessly and I completed the task of monitoring the remaining Ethernet outlets in 30 minutes. I also like that the Fluke user manual is available in PDF format. Whenever I buy something with a manual, I try to find it on the manufacturer's website in PDF format and then save it to my computer. Much easier to refer back to in the future from my computer than to find out what I did with the original paper manual. Thank you for making this documentation available in PDF format, Fluke. I'm not sure when I'll need it again, but those two jobs alone have saved me a lot of money. I know from experience that Fluke makes top-notch test equipment, so I decided to spend a few bucks more and buy a well-known brand. I'm very glad I did it as the results speak for themselves. I have just one comment: the packaging is almost impossible to open. I ended up having to use a 10 inch serrated bread knife to cut through the wrapping. Of course there is room for improvement!
