I know what real silk is and how much it costs. I have real silk and it's not $40. If you buy real silk, expect the price will be much higher than $40. This material is coarse, cheap and I only bought it to apply oils to my hair as I don't want to ruin my real silk products. It's only for what I use it for. But not real soft silk. In addition to my purchase, I purchased another brand from Alaska Bear (AB) and it is much softer than this brand. What is unusual is that AB is 19mm and this mark is 25mm. But 19 is softer. To complete my experience I will be returning this brand and buying their 25mm from AB. There are already 19 mm of this. Again, I use this cheaper "silk" material for hair care. When I don't have oils in my hair, I sleep on natural silk. To know what is right for you, you need to buy from different brands. Don't settle for one as the other may be best for you. Much luck!
